I'm Lisa Eckstein. I grew up in the outer suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts, spending most of my free time reading and scribbling the beginnings of stories into notebooks. I attended college at Brown University, where I majored in lingustics and took a lot of creative writing classes.

In 1997, I moved across the country to Silicon Valley, California, for the climate and a linguistics-related job in the tech industry. After leaving that company, I worked for several dot-coms in a series of roles that ranged from community management to information organization to copywriting and editing.

I learned about National Novel Writing Month in 2002 and gave it a try, though I'd never expected to write anything longer than a short story. Once I started noveling, there was no turning back.

In 2006, I left the world of cubicles to focus on writing full-time. The bulk of my attention has gone to The Overworld, my most promising novel, but I've continued to churn out a NaNoWriMo novel each November and a screenplay every Script Frenzy.

I'm a member of the South Bay Writers branch of the California Writers Club, and I participate in two critique groups. When not writing, I can often be found reading, knitting, playing karaoke-based video games, or running very slowly.
